The aging of the population in rural communities and its effect on population growth, health care and service needs, as well as the economy; the shift in the rural economy away from natural resource extraction and toward natural resource and other services; and the increasing demands and need for healthy water, air, soils, flora, and fauna are all examples of critical issues that require special knowledge to navigate skillfully. The issues relevant to rural Oregon communities are complex and ever changing. Luckily, many individuals and organizations have devoted their time and energy to understanding the issues, their implications, and exploring solutions. In the menu bar to the left you can learn about the organizations and individuals who have the expertise to guide those new to the challenge.
