Willamette Basin Water Flow and Quantity

The importance of the Willamette River Basin to Oregonians cannot be overemphasized.Nearly 70 per cent of Oregon's population or 1.9 million people call it home.The Willamette River drains an area of 12,000 square miles.Flows from the Willamette River can reach up to 34,000 cubic feet per second, and it ranks as one of the 30 largest rivers in the United States.The Willamette River also serves as a source of drinking water supplies for many municipalities within the basin, most notably from the new state of the art water treatment plant located at Wilsonville.
