Web Services to Stream Imagery

Oregon provides access to aerial photography through image services, meaning you may stream high resolution imagery online or to a GIS client without downloading large amounts of data to your computer. You can preview any of the imagery datasets listed below using ArcGIS Online simply by clicking the image thumbnail picture or the corresponding Preview link. In addition to previewing the imagery in your browser, additional capabilities are available by accessing web services in the following formats:

  • ArcGIS REST API provides a simple, open Web interface to services, primarily consumed using web clients.
  • WMS specification from the Open Geospatial Consortium, used by a wide variety of clients (desktop and web-based)
  • ArcGIS Layer Files use the SOAP protocol, use this link to open the service directly in ArcGIS Desktop

Each web service is available in both Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere projection (EPSG 3857), most commonly used by web applications, as well as Oregon Lambert International Feet (EPSG 2992), Oregon's standard projected coordinate system.
