Coastal Research Data and Online Resources
The Oregon Coastal and Oceans Information Network (OCOIN) aims to unite data sources and make them more accessible to data users and data producers. Here we present a list of major data sources in Oregon and their intended uses:
Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal Oceans (PISCO) is an academic consortium that conducts research to advance understanding of the coastal ocean within the California Current Large Marine Ecosystem and inform management and policy. Available data include intertidal and subtidal nearshore surveys.
Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS) is part of the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) and provides information and products related to weather and ocean data. The NANOOS Visualization System (NVS) provides easy access to observations, forecasts, data, and visualizations.
West Coast Ocean Data Portal (WCODP) invites you to discover and contribute valuable data resources to inform ocean planning, policy development and resource management on the West Coast. WCODP includes data uploaded by researchers.
Oregon Spatial Data Library provides public access to reliable and up-to-date spatial data. The Oregon Spatial Data Library is a joint effort between the Department of Administrative Services Geospatial Enterprise Office and Oregon State University.
The following list provides a collection of additional data sources that contain data related to coastal research and management in Oregon:
- ARGO Floats
- COASST Website
- Coastal and Oceanic Plankton Ecology, Production, and Observation Database (COPEPOD)
- Intergovernmental Ocean Observing System (IOOS)
