Team Self Diagnosis: Team Report 2

Description:
The esteemed Dr. Kocaoglu stresses that we, as technology managers, accept that globalization is “here”, and has in fact been intertwined in the fabric of business and other human endeavors for quite some time. The challenge ahead, as with so many technology management issues, is to manage globalization before globalization becomes un-manageable. “Les Débrouillards” has been focused on learning the critical issues and lessons learned as explained by leading researchers, and by using the available tools and techniques to synthesize a small group of six international students into a performance team. This was done in order to understand the challenges and joys of a truly global enterprise. Succeeding in this task, however small this may be in the grander scheme, has taught its members that globalization of business through international cooperation is possible. This was achieved through recognition of certain cultural forces, sharing and acceptance of our similarities and differences, and completing meaningful actions to meld the collective forces of its members into a cohesive unit that became capable of significant achievements in a short period of time. Establishing a “playing field” of common purpose, performance goals, and in working approach has allowed us to utilize our individual skills and talents to flourish in an atmosphere of mutual accountability and commitment to “Les Débrouillards”. We offer this report as a vehicle to see the internal workings of our team. It is set in the framework of an industrious, and dare we say ”resourceful” in reflection of our team spirit, chemistry laboratory motif. Put on your goggles and lab coat as you enter the lab, for there will be displayed the scents, sounds and bright flashes of light that reflect the formation of an exciting and globally capable compound. In each development step, please notice the methodology behind the compound formation, individual elements and their part in the critical reactions, and the scientific basis behind this global experiment.
