Wetland habitat monitoring can take many forms. While not wetland specific, some monitoring efforts that are evaluating salmon recovery or aquatic macro-invertebrate diversity and change often collect information on physical parameters, hydrologic connection and the surrounding landscape.

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), US Forest Service (USFS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), watershed councils, tribes and others monitor fish habitat with methods that note the physical characteristics of the stream. These parameters might include wetlands within oxbows, off - channel habitats and even some and slow water channel habitats with aquatic bed vegetation. Information about wetlands can be gleaned from these long-term data sets from Oregon stream systems.
